About Clive Attrell

Antiques have always been my passion. Even at the tender age of 12 I was interested in Militaria, and my bedroom resembled a mini museum. From being a keen collector, the path was a natural one, and at the age of 16 I started to visit Auctions, Markets and Antique fairs.

History

I loved the opportunity to learn something new every day, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with beautiful and interesting things. Jan 1998 I bought a shop in Hastings Old Town and created "The Antiques Warehouse", a fascinating 'Aladdins' cave' where anything and everything can be found.

One of my most memorable purchases was a painting bought at auction for £200, which I subsequently discovered to be painted by the celebrated artist Francois Boucher. It later sold for £8000.

More recently, I discovered the European Cup Final ball that was used when Manchester United played Benfica in 1968. Signed by all members of the Manchester United side, induding the infamous George Best, it now resides at Old Trafford.
The antiques game can be a risky business, and I don't always get it right. A while back I purchased a selection of medals from a collector and paid £41,000. Unfortunately when I went on to sell, I lost over £8000. Alas, dealing Antiques is not a science!

Through my Free Valuation appearances, and personalised house calls, the public have entrusted me with their valuables, where I have always offered an honest opinion and the chance to explain the history of a particular piece and it's unique worth.

My Free Antiques Valuation road-show regularly appears at a number of locations throughout Sussex and Kent, and of course you can still see me participate on ITV's "Dickinson's Real Deal", and my own television series.

My work has taken me all over the world, where I have met many different collectors and specialised dealers gaining invaluable knowledge along the way. My most pleasurable contacts however remain the general public and I look forward to meeting you all at my next roadshow soon!
